Barcode Reader
A barcode reader, or scanner, decodes information in barcodes. It turns the black and white stripes, or pixels, into data that computers, systems, or databases can read.
It’s like the eyes of a barcode system. It quickly reads and sends the code's details, such as product info or serial numbers, with a single scan.
There are different types of barcode readers. They include:
- Laser Scanners: Use a laser beam to read 1D barcodes. Common in retail.
- CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) Scanners: Capture light through a grid of tiny sensors, often used in logistics.
- Image-based (2D) Scanners: Read both 1D and 2D barcodes (like QR codes), found in apps and mobile devices.
- Wireless/Portable Scanners: Great for mobility, often used in warehouses and fieldwork.
In short, barcode readers connect physical products and digital systems, enabling fast and accurate data capture.
