Separation
Separation is the process of dividing or separating different components or elements involved in printing and packaging.
In printing, separation means splitting the image into layers based on color. Each color gets its own special layer to make sure the print looks sharp and vibrant when it's all put together.
In packaging, separation could mean organizing different parts of a product’s package. This includes the box, the label, and the contents inside. By separating these elements, everything fits together perfectly.
Depending on the specific needs and stages of the print and packaging process, separation can include:
- Color Separation: In printing, separation often refers to the division of an image into different color channels. Typically this is cyan, magenta, yellow, and black in CMYK printing. This step ensures that each color is printed using a different layer or pass on the material.
- Material Separation: In packaging, separation can refer to the organization of different materials that will be used in the final package. For example, separating the label design, the cardboard structure, and the inner contents for a product.
- Process Separation: Separation can also mean the distinction between different stages or processes in packaging. This can include separating the stages of design, pre-press, production, and finishing.
In both printing and packaging, separation is the magic that helps create smooth, professional designs. It ensures everything fits together just right in the final product.
